What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Stepping Stones Museum for its engaging, hands-on exhibits that delight children for hours. The 'Energy Lab' and interactive zones are frequently highlighted as favorites. However, some reviews have raised concerns about health and sanitation issues in specific areas, and one visitor reported a discriminatory experience with staff.
"Recently became a member of the ASTC Travel Passport Program. This was the third museum my 4yo and I visited. This is the best museum so far. We were here for just over 4 hours before I ruined my daughter's day by telling her it was time to leave. They even have a small cafeteria for lunch/snack time. Sadly they ran out of coffee when I was in need. We will be returning. Bring extra clothes for the kids in case they have a little to much fun with the water play."

"After 2 years as a member, I will not be renewing my membership this year due to significant, unaddressed health and sanitation issues.
I have repeatedly complained—in person, by email, and over the phone—about the disgusting flies and black mold visible by the water pump in the water play area. Despite assurances from staff that the issue would be fixed, the mold has only grown more extensive with each visit.
This is a serious health hazard, especially in an environment for young children. The Norwalk Health Department should immediately investigate this facility’s cleaning and maintenance protocols. I sincerely hope that new management is brought in, or a better children's museum replaces this one.
Beyond the facility issues, one of my visits included a disturbing interaction with a female front desk associate. After allowing the two families immediately in front of me to check in with their memberships without asking for any ID, she then singled me out and demanded to see my ID to verify my membership's legitimacy. As a person of color, and observing the other families were not, I believe this was an act of discriminatory and selective enforcement. This incident led to an altercation. The manager came out and gave me 2 free guest passes as a “sorry this happened to you”"

"Cute little learning & interaction place. It's got water, dinosaur, outdoor area, marble run, reading nook, enough activities for kids to switch explore, and spacious cafe. Good for birthday parties too."
