What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary

Some also note trail closures and accessibility issues due to railroad track crossings.
"Absolutely stunning trail!! Mosquitos were unbearable. We're from out of town and weren't prepared with bug spray. I have dozens of bites on me. Also blocked off towards the end - without warning - and had to turn back and retrace our steps."

"Nice set of trails. It reminds me of my childhood growing up in Florida. If you're lucky and quiet, you may see wildlife. I've seen deer, wild hogs, wild turkeys, and Barred owls. If you visit during the warm and wet summer months, a double dose of Deep Woods Off is required because the mosquitoes are HORRENDOUS. Unfortunately, there is a railroad track you have to cross, so it's not very wheelchair or scooter friendly."

"Fascinating short tour or half mile hike in old oak hammock. Nice boardwalk and interpretive learning signage along the marsh. Nice bench nooks to sit and enjoy the nuances of the preserve. A longer 2 mile trail is closed. Trail is a small part of Merritt Island National Wildlife Preserve in Florida near Titusville. Parking available. No fees."

Navigating the Mosquito Menace
This intense mosquito activity can significantly impact the enjoyment of the trail. While the boardwalks and scenery are praised, the constant need to swat away insects can detract from the experience. Travelers who have visited during peak mosquito season often express regret for not being better prepared, emphasizing the importance of this one crucial item for a pleasant visit.

Accessibility is another point to consider. While the trails are generally level and the boardwalks are a plus, the presence of a railroad track that needs to be crossed can pose a challenge for those using wheelchairs or scooters.
