Embarrassed to say that after 15 years of living in Oakland, I have only gone on a couple of hikes in this city. (I usually do urban walks, lake Merritt and Alameda.) Can anyone recommend an easy to moderate hike with great views? Thank you!

"Most of our adventures are so amazing here in the Bay Area, so my four star shouldn't be of much concern. This little gem is hard to find, in fact you think you Re turning into an apartment complex.
You start the trail in a gully with a swamp that is pretty gross, however it gets better from there.
Thus is no Tilden Park, but you will have some fun."

"One main trail with a small spur that goes up to a neighborhood. Dense coastal live oak forest with a prescriptive layer of poison oak. Popular with dog walkers and a few joggers although the trail can be rather steep for running in areas."

"Just below Merritt College, this hike is a journey through, what feels like, an isolated temperate canyon land. The silence, fostered be the forested walls of the ravine, is pressing yet comforting. While there are many fellow hikers on weekends, it is fairly vacant during the week. If you persist and make it to the top you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the East Bay. Several steep inclines, not handicap accessible."
