Be prepared for potentially muddy trails, especially after rain. Consider visiting on weekdays to avoid larger crowds and enjoy a more serene experience.

Trail Accessibility & What to Expect

The park boasts several waterfalls, but not all trails are easily accessible. The Muddy Creek Falls trail is ADA accessible, but reaching other falls involves stairs and uneven terrain. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Swallow Falls State Park for its stunning natural beauty, particularly the impressive Muddy Creek Falls and the scenic Canyon Trail. Many highlight the park's accessibility for families and the opportunity for enjoyable hikes. While some note that certain trails can be challenging or slippery, the overall experience is highly recommended for its picturesque waterfalls and serene atmosphere.

"One of our favorite spots we visited this trip to Deep Creek. We went on a day where the temps were in the high 80’s but with the shade and mist coming off the waterfalls it wasn’t a problem. Ages 6-40 hiked with us and it was friendly for all ages. Some of the more steep hills can get slippery with rocks but overall it was a great trip. Plenty of shade and great sights."

Kayla O'Hara

"Loved it here at Swallow Falls. We tent camped in the Garrett Loop. The site was quiet and there was easy access to the clean bathroom, water, and firewood. The trail was fun to hike, although it was definitely a physical challenge to get to the smaller waterfalls. Relatively short drive to deep creek state park. Would 100% stay here again."

Sydney Repasky

"My wife and I, (both senior citizen's) walked the trails between all the falls. It's about 2 1/4 miles all together. All the trails were well maintained and each scenic lookout provided beatiful views. We would highly recommend visiting this park."
