Off-the-beaten-path historic places worth visiting in the Outer Banks?
Hi all. I'm a bit of a history buff and looking for some local tips on off-the-beaten-path historic places to visit in the OBX. I've been before, but never did any exploration regarding history. These don't need to be monuments or memorials (although these are also nice to know)β¦

Enough to do in Ocracoke for 3 days?
I know Ocracoke itself is pretty small, but my girlfriend and I were thinking about going down midday on a friday, and hanging out till midday on a sunday. Is there enough there including beach time to have an enjoyable trip? It seems like a delightful island!

"A bit of history and remembrance from WWII.
"These gravesites contain the bodies of four British seamen. Their ship, the armed trawler HMS Bedfordshire, was on loan to our Navy by Great Britain to help protect our shores during the early days of World War II.
On May 11, 1942 the Bedfordshire was torpedoed and sunk by a German sub. All hands were lost and these four were the only bodies recovered.
This cemetery is maintained by Ocracoke Coast Guard Station personnel.""
