What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Harris Nature Center's beautiful, well-maintained trails, especially those along the Red Cedar River, and the abundance of wildlife like chipmunks. It's highly recommended for families due to its engaging play area and accessible paths. Some note that mosquitoes can be intense, and the indoor center has limited hours.
"My fiance and I usually hike at Woldumar, but I'm glad we decided to check out Harris. It is really beautiful and I love how one of the trails goes right next to the Red Cedar River. Even though it was a little busier than I expected, it was still really peaceful and calming to just wander around exploring and watching all of the animals. There are a lot more chipmunks out here than I've seen at most of the other nature centers around Lansing, but they move too quickly for my camera, lol. I'll definitely be coming back to watch them again."

"This is a treasure, located just east of the Okemos area. Easy to get to, beautiful well-kept trails, clear maps, beautiful woods, and even a bird watching lookout with built-in binoculars. We saw a lot of wildlife and very few other people. The children's play area is great, and the bathrooms and nature center look new and are very well maintained. I highly recommend checking Harris Nature Center out!"

"The center was closed but it looks like a great place for kids. I give it a 5 because the trails were really well labeled and it is a beautiful walk. I did the eastern most loops. There were lots of mushroom varieties and pretty views. The only negative was the mosquitos were horrendous the day I went. Definitely a place worth visiting."
