What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was a polarizing coaster, loved by many for its intense drops, unique music selection, and exhilarating ride experience. However, some found it rough, uncomfortable, and overly intense, with reports of headbanging and even blackouts. Despite its drawbacks for some, its innovative features and high-thrill nature made it a memorable attraction for many visitors.
"This ride was amazing! I loved how the fast and exhilarating drops were. My friend and I went on this ride 5 times in one day because we loved it so much! Also, you are able to listen to music while screaming your head off. It is a very intense ride, however, so don’t ride if you are a coaster chicken."

"The ride is amazing. Great amount of airtime on this one! It's track is also very smooth. The special sauce here is the fact that you can choose your personal song, so each time you ride the experience will be different. You should definitely miss out on this one!"

"I had high hopes for this coaster, but I was left disappointed from the ride experience. First, it starts out extremely intense because of the vertical accent. Then, once you go over and into the first loop, the roughness and headbanging begin. For a ride that was built in 2008, it should be running fairly smooth, but this was not the case. Both the mummy and the hulk gave extremely smooth rides compared to this thing (probably because they have been modified over time). I'm not sure if the RIP Ride Rockit has been adjusted over the years, but if it hasn't, now would be a good time to."

The Unique Music Experience
This musical integration was a key selling point, turning a standard roller coaster into a multi-sensory thrill. The system was designed to sync the music with the ride's movements, creating a dynamic and immersive experience. While some found the music selection process a bit rushed, for many, it was the highlight that set the Rip Ride Rockit apart from other coasters.
Unfortunately, the music system was just one part of the ride that is now a memory. The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit has been permanently closed and demolished, meaning this unique musical roller coaster experience is no longer available to park guests.
A Roller Coaster's Demise
Following its closure, demolition of the iconic coaster began. Videos circulating on social media captured the process, including a notable incident where a small fire erupted on the lift hill during demolition. This event added a dramatic, albeit unfortunate, final chapter to the ride's history. The rapid demolition process was documented by theme park enthusiasts, highlighting the swift removal of the structure from the Universal Studios Florida skyline.
The reasons for the permanent closure and subsequent demolition were not extensively detailed by Universal Orlando Resort, but the ride had faced operational challenges and mixed reviews regarding its smoothness and intensity. Its removal paves the way for potential future attractions at the park.
