OysterFest - Oyster Bay, LI
After years of me wanting to check this out looks like I am going out there Sunday. 10/15...I'm taking the LIRR there and back with my three kids....What can I expect? Anything I shouldn't miss? And um, how many oysters to my cakehole is too many? Can I get beers and walk…

What stops can I get off to explore that will truly "wow" me?
I'm living in Manhattan near Penn/Grand Cent and I want to explore, since I may not live here forever. Where should I explore? Preferably towns where the LIRR station is in the center of the interesting part of town OR maybe a serene park/farm/view/beach that is a drastic…

Hello! My father and I will be staying in Lower Manhattan in mid-/late-Nov. We have decided to carve out one day in our itinerary to explore a place in Long Island (taking the LIRR both ways). We have our sights set on 2 options--Jones Beach and Oyster Bay. I took a look at…

Reviews Summary
The Oyster Bay Railroad Museum offers a glimpse into railway history with its collection of vintage trains and simulators. Visitors appreciate the dedication of volunteers and the potential of the site, especially its historical connection to Theodore Roosevelt. However, some experiences, particularly during special events, have been criticized for disorganization and high prices.
"Attended RAILFEST 2025 today. This place is so overrated. First of all they have two locations that are not even near each other. In order to go to the yard they tell you go through the park and if you don’t want to do that you can walk 7-8 mins in a near by neighborhood and make your way to the entrance on other side (which I’m not sure if it’s even a entrance cause no one checked my $10 ticket and I practically paid for no reason tbh) anyways the place is super disorganized. They have so much garbage or junk everywhere. During RAILFEST in order to separate the event from the junk they used orange cones. Event was super lame. Like 5-6 train displays that they or former owners cut in half. The train turntable was a huge let down. The thing goes around in a circle 3-4 times and they take you off. Nothing really fun. Also the vendors were VERY OVERPRICED. They wanted 25$ for a piece of junk train toy that was missing a wheel. The food was overpriced as well. 3 pieces of tenders for $9. Sides are separate fries were like $6. Was looking forward to this event for months. Huge huge huge letdown."

"This place will be a great addition to Oyster Bay in the future. Needs A lot more funds to complete but they will get there. If you want to see the work and the plans go to their website or stop and see the restoration process in person. Back in the day President Theodore Roosevelt got the train here., when he was at Sagamore Hill the Summer White House, when completed the Station will Highlight President Theodore Roosevelt’s connection to it. I am sure it will draw Train enthusiasts from all around when completed. I was here on 8/3/2021 and found out the museum has moved here it is open on the weekends The place is a beautiful historic landmark and the building looks fully restored and ready for tourists and townspeople."
