What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary

"Beautiful property and beautiful views of the ocean. It's like being in a forest on the beach. The boardwalk gives you an amazing view of the sunsets. The Cafe has so many food options and has good coffee. My sister had her wedding here and the staff were amazing! Beautiful reception room with floor to ceiling windows and views of trees and sand. Highly recommend this place."

"We enjoyed our visit. This is a beautiful and historic place. Breakfast was delicious and loved the historic architecture. The main reception area, dining hall & Merrill hall are wonderful with great examples of arts and crafts details. The boardwalk to the beach is a lovely walk and very scenic. There are deer that wander through the grounds. The swimming pool is heated. The main hall is a great gathering place with a big fireplace, piano, and table games. However I feel that there could be more improvements in the lodging areas themselves. We stayed in Treetops. A shampoo of carpets would be nice since there were stains in the common areas. Also bathroom was clean at first glance but needs some detailing in corners for stains and needs paint touchups for stains. Also, the swimming pool floor had some stains that need to be cleaned. It would be nice if maintenance improves or a remodel of the old lodging bathrooms. We will return for the beauty of the property , the area and the historic architecture."

"The location was very pretty. The site provided fun amenities including a live music night with BBQ for purchase. They also have a lovely walk down to the beach via a boardwalk. That said, everything was quite expensive at the hotel, including their banquet hall and the BBQ event.
The rooms do NOT have A/C. This is not a traditional hotel style site; it's like cabins and you have to find your building. When we arrived, the windows in our room were open, and it was nice out (late July). The issue was only one of the two windows had a poorly-fitted screen (the other had no screen) to keep out the bugs. Also, with the 'cabin' style, we were greeted with stairs immediately upon entering our cabin. There was no elevator in the cabin, and no preface that stairs would be needed. With my bad back and the luggage for the night, the stairs were incredibly unwelcome.
Lastly, when we asked for additional towels at the reception desk, we were advised they'd bring some to the room and they never did. While the site was nice, and I can see the appeal for large groups and conferences, since they have multiple meeting areas, it was not ideal for easy and comfortable travel."
