What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Rip Van Winkle Open Space as a fantastic, free natural escape, especially for dogs needing off-leash time. The 'enchanted forest' atmosphere and easy trails are major highlights. However, some note issues with empty dog bag dispensers and caution against parking violations, which can lead to tickets.
"It was nice to be able to let dog run around off leash,as the other areas in town are restrictive about dogs and drones. There is a detailed sign here as well. I didn't see any dog police, but I'm sure on the weekends . The regular dog poop bag dispenser was empty so we were offered these lame apparent home made dog poop bags. Hope the city didn't pay too much for them. With all the regulations about dogs they didnt care about keeping up the park. Lots of dry dead wood and brush ready for a windy day and a psycho with a blow torch. Homes all around. With pacific palisades all burnt I would have thought the city would be concerned about burning up. Also be careful how you park. We got a $50 ticket for not parking correctly. The city seems to try to get as much money as possible from tourists."

"Great place to walk with dogs off leash. The trails are easy to follow and wide enough for dogs to run and play. Plus it is very scenic with trees and flowers."

"Very nice place in the middle of the city. Lots of trees and fresh air. A lot of little trails to follow. I didn’t have my dog when I visited but lots of other had theirs with them and it seemed like an area that is good for a dog to run around in."
