What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The McCracken County Courthouse is noted for its historic architecture and functional interior, including helpful elevators. However, visitor experiences with customer service, particularly at the County Clerk's office, can be inconsistent. Significant wait times for DMV services, sometimes involving outdoor waiting, are a recurring point of dissatisfaction.
"One of them few remaining old style court houses around this area. Everything doesnt have the layout as the newer buildings, that it is still very functional. There's elevators inside that love you up and down that's helps as well. It also has a wonderful outside reappearance as well, trimmed by large trees and grass."

"The staff at the front door was friendly kind and made entry a breeze (sheriff department). At the county clerks office the worker was not friendly, and didn't display good customer skills. They treat like another number even though your playing taxes on your vehicle. The energy in office was very negative and no one was Friendly."

"To the good people of McCracken County and to the powers that be I am an American citizen who loves to travel these United States and because I travel I would consider myself a guest of a certain area even though I am a citizen of this country.
As a citizen of this country and as a guest of any county/state U.S.A. I would like to bring attention to a case involving one of your deputies on I believe 8/18/2023 @ approximately 1:23pm and ask that you at the very least take a look at the video (body cam) footage. It involves a young woman who says she was cutoff by a McCracken County deputy and when she approached the deputy she was arrested for Menace (00803) & Disrupting Meetings & Processions, 2nd Degree (02381). All because she knocked on the deputy’s window to express her displeasure of his driving.
What concerns me about this case is that the deputy seems to retaliate against this woman because she either scared the deputy by knocking on his window and or the deputy did not like the fact that she approached him with a concern. A concern I might add that had to do with public safety at large not just her or the deputy. After all the deputy was driving on a public street.
It’s a shame because as an American citizen and as a guest at large of any county or state, U.S.A. I would like to think that if I had a concern over public safety, regardless of who it involves, I should feel comfortable and confident that if I approach a law enforcement officer in your area that I myself would not be subject to arrest or intimidation for expressing my concerns.
Would I have knocked on the deputy’s window? I don’t know but one would think that at the very least the deputy could have explained the proper way to handle any concerns she might have about his driving moving forward and not turned around and arrested her, in retaliation in my view I might add, all because he didn’t like her attitude and or the way she approached him.
In general it’s a well known fact that when law enforcement approach vehicles where the occupants may or may not notice the officer a knock on the window is an acceptable practice. Unless McCracken County deputies are taught something different altogether.
I would love to visit your beautiful county in a beautiful state such as Kentucky but this sure has made me extremely cautious over how to handle and or approach any deputy of McCracken County if I have a concern over public safety and witness someone driving erratically or possibly something worse.
Mistakes are human and the last time I checked law enforcement officers were human. Ok I’ve said my peace. Do the right thing in this case McCracken County."
