It is also the final resting place to some very important and significant people in U. S. and Local History.
Former Vice President of the United States for The Truman Administration Alben W. Barkley is buried their (the local airport is named in his honor), aka 'Veep'.
And Paducah Community College Men's Basketball Coach Claude 'Sonny' Hawes (College Gym is named in his honor) is also buried their.
