What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Palm Desert Certified Farmers' Market offers a vibrant selection of fresh produce, artisanal baked goods, and local crafts, often accompanied by live music. While many appreciate the quality and variety, some visitors have expressed concerns about high produce prices and occasional limited availability. A few reviews also mention negative vendor experiences, highlighting the importance of being vigilant.
"Walking into Hiway 111 Certified Farmer’s Market you are greeted by The Biscotti Lady’s captivating smile and samples of lemon drop cookies, pistachio biscotti, and Britton Ma Buoni. Joyful live music fills the air while your eyes are treated to vendors displaying honey, mushrooms, ice cream, and a cornucopia of vibrant vegetables. At Chaupain Bakery you can try samples of the smoothest and creamiest sheep’s milk yogurt. Bergamot, the vendor, mentions that his food is rooted in “happiness and health”. Chaupain also serves up delicious pastries and baguettes. This farmer’s market is worth the drive from any corner of the Coachella valley!"

"Being so close to this farmers market i was so disappointed with the incredibly high prices (speaking only of the produce). Like others have mentioned, the prices are so high, much higher than the Whole Foods i shop at across the street.
NOTE, there was one produce vendor there that overcharged me for my produce. I’m not Latino but speak fluent Spanish and overheard the customer before me. But when my wife went to pay he charged us a higher price. My wife doesn’t speak Spanish as was shocked on the pricing. So I mentioned something in Spanish and immediately offered a discount. I was so disgusted we put our bag down and left. Not supporting a racist and criminal seller. Ugh, i love supporting farmers and CSA’s but left a bad taste in my mouth"

"We went today Sunday May 19 and it was horrible! They had no tomatoes and very little of anything else.
They are a waste of time and should not even open and especially not advertise as a Farmers Market!!!"

Navigating the Market Experience
However, it's important to manage expectations regarding produce prices and availability. Some reviews suggest that produce prices can be quite high, sometimes exceeding those at local supermarkets. [^Review] There have also been instances of inconsistent availability, with some visitors reporting a lack of certain items on specific days. [^Review] It's also worth noting that one reviewer shared a negative experience with a vendor overcharging and exhibiting discriminatory behavior, which is a concern for those looking to support local businesses ethically. Despite these potential drawbacks, many visitors find the market to be a worthwhile experience for its fresh ingredients and the opportunity to connect with local vendors. The presence of unique items like gluten-free brookies from @.abakery adds to the market's appeal.
