Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Lower Arroyo Park for its accessible nature trails, beautiful bridges, and peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for walking, bird watching, and family outings. While parking can be a challenge on busy days, the well-maintained paths and scenic views offer a rewarding local escape.

"This is a pleasant easy hike with minimal elevation gain in the Arroyo of the San Gabriel mountains. Nice views of the Colorado Boulevard Bridge, Brookside Golf Course and right past the Rose Bowl. Typical California vegetation with a smattering of poison oak. There's free parking and plenty of picnic tables."

"A great nature area for bird watching with amazing views from down in the Arroyo. The trail can take you all the way to the JPL past the Rose Bowl!"

Nash Holcomb

"Came here on a Sunday morning as wanted to walk the trail to the Rose Bowl. Very narrow driveway to a small parking lot, but there was plenty of parking. Majority of people were heading to the archery area and I was the only one heading to the trails. It wasn't clear which side of the stream to walk as there's paths on each side. Heading to the Rose Bowl, I walked on the right side of the stream which luckily was the correct path.

While the trail wasn't the nicest, it was a nice walk as you walked under the Colorado Bridge, Pioneer's Bridge, and the 134 on the way to the Rose Bowl. You eventually end up on the street for the last 15 minutes to the Bowl. There's an aquatic center, tennis courts, and a park before you reach the Rose Bowl. Since it was the college football bowl season, the grounds were getting prepared for the nationally televised bowl.

The Lower Arroyo Park was a simple park that was not as heavily crowded as the other local parks. The trails were wide at the beginning, but became narrower once you pass the Colorado Bridge. Nice quiet trails that were relatively easy."
