Insider Tips

from TikTok, Instagram & Reddit

Detweiller Park [ #peoriaparkdistrict ] has some great trails with some good hills to climb. Add in a little slick mud and it can get interesting. The #illinoisriverblufftrail starts/ends here and reaches 7 miles to Camp Wokanda. Our intention was to make it to where the trail sneaks under Route 6 (“interstate”), but we ran out of time. Did 4.5 miles total and climbed 1000ft of elevation. #hikepeo...

"Park at Robinson Park on Mossville Rd. Head north (left) toward Camp Waconda. Trail is a moderate, out-and- back, around 5 miles, if you go under the highway a few tenths. We enjoyed the thick canopy, narrow paths, elevation changes, and dirt footing (not rooty and rocks). Really good trail. 🙌👍"

Gordon Shaffer

"Great trail! Entered at Camp Wokanda trailhead. Nice, rugged trails. Unpaved, but clear. Plenty of uphill and downhill. Sometimes with steps, but sometimes just the hill. Several benches if you need to recover. Beautiful woodlands to see. Especially in the fall."

Rodney Barnhill

"Wife and I love to find new places to go for a little walk/hike and this one was awesome! We really love it here and will definitely be back.

Trails are well maintained, have some steep inclines, awesome views and very peaceful.

We will definitely be back :)"
