"It was a beautiful day and didn't want to be cooped up. Walked 3.2 miles to the dunes. Not liking the walk down 91st but found the opening to the dunes. Walked on down. The wind blew fresh and cool off the lake. Found myself a large stone down by the water. Sat down and enjoyed the water splashing up onto my feet and sometimes up onto my face and over my head. So relaxing. Not a soul in sight. Enjoyed the time alone."

"The Kenosha Sand Dunes may not cover a large area, but it has a very unique landscape, which unfortunately is disappearing. Hiking through the sandy trails gives you great views of Lake Michigan, and the beach is perfect for kicking back or taking a dip. If it gets hot, the woods offer a some nice shade—just keep an eye out for poison ivy in the shaded spots. All in all, the Kenosha Sand Dunes provide a great mix of sand, water, and woods for a day of exploring."

"Park on the south side of the Southport beach house. We loved all the flat rocks. We saw many butterflies and bees. The trails go in and out of the dunes and we were able to see lots of unique vegetation. The sound of the waves splashing along the rocks was much louder than I expected. There were only a few other visitors so it really felt like we had the lakefront to ourselves!"
