Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Lake Crescent's breathtaking natural beauty and the historic charm of the lodge. The clear, blue waters and surrounding mountains create a stunning backdrop. While accommodations are rustic and can be pricey, the location and dining experience are often highlighted as worthwhile. Some guests noted issues with amenities and power outages, but the overall sentiment leans towards a magical, memorable visit.

"This is a must visit spot if you are on the Olympic Peninsula. Incredibly gorgeous views of Lake Crescent. The accommodations are not modern, but comfortable and add to the charm of the location. The cost to stay here may seem a bit pricey for what you get, but it is totally worth it to be able to sit outside your room in the evening with a view of the lake. The restaurant is fantastic. The food we had was fresh and locally sourced and reasonably priced. The dining room is well lit and offers a view of the lake. Service was great. There are a couple of trails that you can get to right from the resort, some short, some very long. That was a plus for us as well. We will definitely be back for a longer stay in the future."

"This is a historic lodge in a beautiful location. I stayed one night in one of the lodge rooms and loved it. It is quite rustic (the lodge was built in 1916), so be prepared for a visit without all the amenities of a modern hotel. There is an in-room sink, but the bathroom and showers are shared with the rest of the lodge rooms in the hall. The lodge itself is gorgeous, and the food at the dining room was heartly and tasty. The staff were very welcoming and professional. You can't beat the view right outside the front door of Lake Crescent. I'd definitely stay here again."

"Beautiful setting, charming lodge. We arrived to no power, so no food available. Didn't even offer guests a pbj or discount (I asked). Power came on later but had already resigned and gone to bed. Beds (rock hard) and towels and pillows seemed as old as the lodge. Staff was friendly and we had a nice breakfast. Or a good value."

It hugs the north shore of Lake Crescent, offering continuous, breathtaking views of the impossibly blue water and surrounding old-growth forests. Instagram

At approximately 1.7 miles in, you'll reach the turn-off for Devil's Punchbowl. Instead of continuing through the tunnel, take the path to the left. You'll soon arrive at a dramatic overlook where the water swirls in a deep, emerald-green pool. On warm days, brave visitors jump into the bracingly cold water for a unique swimming experience. For the full loop, you can cross the bridge and then re-enter the tunnel to complete the circuit back to the trailhead. TikTok+1

The Unique Waters of Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent is renowned for its striking beauty, largely due to its exceptionally clear and deep waters. Formed by glacial activity, the lake boasts a remarkable clarity, allowing visibility down to depths of 60 feet. This pristine quality is attributed to the lake's limited algae growth and the surrounding watershed, which is primarily composed of old-growth forests. Instagram

The lake's depth is another impressive feature, reaching a maximum of 623 feet. This significant depth contributes to its cool water temperatures year-round, making it a refreshing, albeit chilly, spot for swimming during the summer months. The deep blue hue of the water, especially when contrasted with the lush green forests and rugged mountains, creates a truly mesmerizing spectacle. Instagram+1

Local legends and native stories often spoke of the lake having no bottom, a testament to its immense depth and mysterious allure. The name 'Lake Crescent' itself comes from its elongated, crescent shape, a distinctive feature visible from many viewpoints around the park. Instagram
