"A unique and important landmark in the history of Portland, ME. We took the 30 minute guided tour up the observatory. The guide provided excellent info on the history, function and operation of the observatory as well as info on Portland's maritime history. A great first stop/orientation to Portland. We had no wait for our tour. Very enjoyable and informative."

"If you're interested in local history, I can't recommend stopping here enough! Group tours are capped at 10 people, running every 30 minutes and last about 45 minutes. I recommend double-checking the website or calling in advance to make sure about times when they have guided tours versus not. Additionally the observatory is not handicap accessible. Our docent was very knowledgeable and had done these tours for 7 years. The views from the top are also amazing! Highly recommend!"

Marcy Pursell

"I'm from out of town and this is a must-do activity. Highly recommend doing a tour with the docent. They give a great explanation of the history and structure of the tower and you stop at each of the 7 floors so you have time to catch your breath! Also the views from the top are awesome!! It's $10 per adult, $8 for seniors, $5 for residents."
