What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Liberty Square garners mixed reviews, with many praising its social atmosphere and convenient location near campus. However, significant concerns are raised about outdated apartments, poor maintenance, and management practices, including hidden fees and parking issues. While some find the amenities and community spirit appealing, others regret their decision due to the living conditions and cost.
"I moved my daughter in and I am so disappointed. The pictures are a complete lie. This may be a social place, but it's amenities are poor quality. The apartments are filthy, and old, trashy and not maintained. Lights are not working in and out of the apartments. The girls working the leasing office have terrible customer service and are not very helpful. The "PAID" parking is a sham! They are looking for ways to boot cars. You can't even get in and out of the parking garages. And then the apartment complex replaces the most functional and decent pieces of furniture in the apartments after move in date. They took away the desks that match the beds and shelving and replace it with a table. These were in good functional order. While the new desk is new, it is not equitable and very functionable. The original desks had a drawer, matching hutch with shelf and bulletin board. Now with this new table, my daughter will have to purchase more shelf/table to hold the items that the existing desk used to hold. The chair that is replaced is less comfortable and takes up more space. The money used to purchase, install, and take out the old desks should have been used to update and clean the actual apartment. The kitchen is old and is not appropriate space for 6 tenants to live there. The hall cabinets were absolutely disgusting. It's unfortunate that the location is keeping them going. I would not recommend anyone moving here!"

"I’ve lived at Liberty Square for the past year and my experience has been overall very positive. I have loved the community and amenities that are offered to residents. Any questions that I had about my contract or the property were always answered quickly and accurately by the community representative Ramsey. Although the apartments can be a bit dilapidated, the recent renovations and speedy maintenance have made up for the aging buildings. I would recommend Liberty Square to anyone looking for a friendly and social home!"

"The apartment wasn’t bad, good location and maintenance was efficient but man Redstone and the office staff are awful. Increasing prices on everything to “compete with the market” and hidden fees, surprise renovations and kicking you out of your apartment without asking or giving any rent credit or anything. Just awful management and immoral preying off of poor college students. It’s just a business and they don’t care about giving you a good experience, just making money. I regret living here."

Understanding the Resident Experience
However, the living experience is not without its challenges. Several reviews highlight that the apartments themselves can be outdated and poorly maintained. Issues such as plumbing problems, mildew, and malfunctioning lights have been reported. While some renovations have occurred, the overall condition of the buildings and the quality of replaced furnishings have been points of criticism. Communication with management can also be difficult, with in-person visits often being more effective than phone calls.
Despite these drawbacks, the social atmosphere and convenient location are frequently cited as reasons why residents choose Liberty Square. It's a place that prioritizes community engagement, which can be a major plus for those seeking an active social life. Prospective residents are advised to carefully inspect units and clarify all terms, especially regarding parking and fees, to ensure their expectations align with the reality of living there.
Navigating Management and Fees
The parking situation is a recurring issue, with a 'paid' parking system that some find to be a 'sham,' leading to concerns about cars being booted. It's crucial for new residents to thoroughly understand all parking regulations, associated costs, and any guest parking policies to avoid unexpected problems. The management's approach to renovations, such as replacing functional furniture with less practical items, has also drawn criticism, with residents suggesting funds could be better allocated to actual unit maintenance and cleaning.
For those considering Liberty Square, it's essential to clarify all financial aspects upfront, including rent, fees, and potential increases. Direct communication, preferably in person, with management is recommended to address any concerns and ensure a clear understanding of the lease terms and community policies.
