Reviews Summary

The Katy Trail Machens Eastern Terminus is a point of historical significance but presents considerable access challenges. Visitors strongly advise against using Machens Road due to private property and recommend the Black Walnut Trail Head as a more viable public access point. Be prepared for limited amenities and potential trail obstructions near the terminus itself.

"I suggest that you NOT try to access the Eastern Terminus via Machens Road as Google will most certainly try to convince you to do. If the "do not trespass" signs aren't enough for you, you might reflect on the very real possibility of being shot.
Instead head a little bit west to E11 (or was it Ell?), head south and you'll intersect with the trail. If you must go to the Terminus (like I did) for reasons of closure, pedal back the aprox 2 miles. Once you get there you'll see where Machens Road is and grunt with disgust as to just how convoluted that inconvenience was. I was rewarded with a fine slithering specimen to boot."

"No public access at this terminal, the last public place you can get on or off is black walnut. It is surrounded by private land. No parking, no pick ups"

Jo Jo Thomas

"The Katy trail that beckons exploration, be it for an hour or a week the pace and distance is up to you. To be the terminus of the trail can't help but elicit thoughts of the Western Terminus. This is either the end of journey or a start but whichever it is for you embrace it. As for the destination itself, be aware there is no parking here. Your best bet is the Black Walnut Trail Head."
