What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the Punta Gorda Farmers Market to be a good experience with a wide variety of vendors offering fresh produce, crafts, and food. However, some shoppers note that not all produce is strictly local, and a few vendors use preservatives or sell farmed fish. Despite these minor concerns, many praise the market's lively atmosphere and the quality of unique artisan goods.
"A nice enough farmer’s market, laid out well, with plenty of great merchants. However, pay attention to what you might be thinking is “farm to table” produce/veggies that appear to be coming from some local farmer. Many times, particularly in the larger stands within the market, it’s nothing more than you’ll find in your local mass/corporate grocery store chain. Case in point? Garlic from
China. China. Never mind that the best garlic in the world comes from the U.S. (in Gilroy, CA). Or plums that are from Chile. It’s really inexcusable that one has to deal with such things in what is purported to be a “farmer’s market.” Nevertheless, one has to be on guard for such practices. Outside of such things, and I still can’t get over someone peddling Chi-Comm garlic, it’s a nice enough market and worth a visit."

"I’ve been to many different farms markets around the east coast of the country. This is definitely a VERY good one (hands down). Fresh produce from local farmers and stores. You can make a whole meal with dessert and drinks. There’s crafts and other great things. A must see when in the area.

"Arrive early and take your time! This Farmer's Market is open year round. Much larger in winter season (October through April). Dozens of vendors offering produce, bread, sweets, cheese, fish, meat, eats, art, gifts, clothing, plants, jewelry and health and beauty products. Always a lively gathering. Friendly and fun place to visit. Great place to find local vegetables and support your local farmers."
