Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Old House at Peacefield for its historical significance and well-preserved state, offering a tangible connection to the Adams family legacy. However, some have expressed disappointment with tour length and ticket acquisition processes, particularly during busy periods or unexpected closures. Reddit

"We stopped in to visit John Adam’s home after he became the second US President. The home had been in the Adams family for several generations before being turned over the National Park Service. They provide an excellent tour but you must get your ticket at the visitor’s center."

Andres Ayala

"Beautiful grounds and well preserved. I do have a gripe with the Park Service. We were there when Quincy was holding it's 400 year anniversary celebration. When we arrived at the park office they said they expected big crowds that day and to get hear early. They did not explain that it was opening am hour later at 10 and no reason was given seeing that they expected big crowds. We were in line and in the second group for a "tour," but we did NOT get a tour. They gave us just 5 minutes in 3 rooms and then we had to leave. Nothing on their website said that full tours were not available. We traveled hundreds of miles for this to be sorely disappointed."

Paul Henry

"The Old House at Peace Field in Quincy, Massachusetts, was home to four generations of the Adams family, including Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Built in 1731, it’s a preserved piece of American history.

John and Abigail Adams purchased the house in 1787 after returning from diplomatic service in Europe. Over the years, they expanded and furnished it with items reflecting both their travels and their deep New England roots.

Today, the Old House is part of the Adams National Historical Park, open to visitors who can explore its rooms, gardens, and extensive library. It stands as a testament to the legacy of one of America’s most influential families."
