What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Oakwood Historic District for its stunning Victorian architecture and the charm of its annual Candlelight Tour. The neighborhood's walkability and strong community spirit, especially during Halloween, are also frequently highlighted. However, some visitors note that wait times during popular events can be significant, and tickets for the Candlelight Tour sell out quickly.
"During the month of December, many Oakwood residents open their beautiful homes for visitors to view. The homes are eloquently decorated. Docents are placed strategically around the homes to share stories about the history of the homes.
My favorite home this year was the beautiful home of a Jewish family. Many of the family members served as Docents who shared information of their Jewish faith and customs. I was mesmerized and greatly appreciative for the knowledge.
The reason for giving my review 4 stars instead of 5 stars is to hopefully attract attention to my comments. I suggest more homes could be added to the list with the hopes of spreading the people out more so the lines will hopefully be shorter. We were there from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and only had time to see only 5 homes. I enjoyed the pleasant weather, houses being in walking distances, sunshine and opportunity to see the homes, but most of our time was taken by standing in lines."
