Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day with family and good food! Today has me thinking about the turkey mom that gave me a heart attack last year while working at Powdermill Nature Reserve last year. I was wondering why there were baby turkeys (poults) walking around on their own, and then I quickly realized they weren’t alone… The Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) i...

"Wonderful place for environmental learning, relaxing, and hiking. The perfect circle loop to walk and with water features. My favorite part is all of the educational markers placed through the trails. The trails are well marked and allow you to track your progress. There are a few benches through put in case you have mobility issues. You can also enjoy the several tiny foot bridges that are really well crafted throughout.

I was there in the afternoon til dusk and seeing wildlife start to emerge and the birds really active was cool.

I would definitely return again and bring friends back."

"Really nice place! Excellent little museum and activities inside. Amazing trails along Powdermill creek. A wonderful place!"

"I was driving by and noticed the nature reserve off to my left. I pulled in to check it out. It’s an interesting nature reserve and somewhat small on the inside, but it has a lot to offer as far as water filtration for the restroom, which is kind of cool. There are trails in the back of the nature reserve building where you could take a short half-mile or a mile walk.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There are restrooms and free parking. I didn’t notice any vending machines for pop, but then again, I wasn’t looking. If you’re in the area, stop by and take a look. There isn’t an admission fee and the nature reserve is free to the public."
