What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Hidden Valley Wildlife Area for its extensive trail system, suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The paved Santa Ana River Trail and the natural beauty, especially during spring wildflower season, are frequently highlighted. However, some find the summer heat intense and the sandy trails challenging without proper footwear.
"Sprawling park with miles of trail to explore. I went on a midsummer day at 4:30pm. Do not do that. It was 104 and I went through 24oz of water in about 20 minutes. There are small patches of shade, but the trails are primarily in sun. Parking is $5.00, cash.
The sandy trails are heavily marked with horseshoe indents, and that seems to be who at least some of the trails were made for. Sections felt like walking on a sandy beach, so they could be a little difficult without the proper shoes.
I imagine this little slice of wilderness is beautiful after a rain and in 70 degree weather, and I think my next trip will be under those conditions."

"Mountain biking fun and easy to access. Miles of trails with climbing and flats. Easily create a loop or take the path wherever it leads. There is also a paved path, part of the Santa Ana River trail to San Bernardino which ends at Waterman Avenue. The trails are open to equestrian and hiking and there is plenty of space to roam without interfering. Wide paths, some areas washed out and may lack maintenance, easy to navigate through or around."

"Great place overall. Lots of wildlife, horse trails, paved walking trail to get in those daily 6000 steps, or perhaps a run, & even a possible bike ride. Around the walking trail, there are numerous fun workout activities. There's a flip-able tire for squat flips, theres a zig zig-like wooden beam- where one can do planks or do push-ups on, a pull up bar for strengthing or core/back hangs, and did i mention the monkey bars in the beginning ! There used to be an awesome power house that was used back in the day to convert water into energy from the flowing santa ana river beds that sit towards the left hand side dirt trail that crosses through the nursery. One can still access the river, and the water is warm. Becareful as there is wildlife. One can stumble upon rattlesnakes, wild hogs, or Vultures. Check my video! I stumbled upon a hungry vulture who had just found or caught a meal !"
