Kicking off Oregon Wine Month ahead of time! A month ago today, we had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Climatologist Dr. Greg Jones, CEO of his family’s winery, Abacela. The clouds, rain and chilly weather didn’t damper our visit one bit! While we didn’t cover all of their 76 planted acres, we made a huge dent traversing vineyards and unplanted acreage in a four-wheel drive cart. The...

"Highly recommend reading the fascinating history of how they found this location for growing grapes from Spain!"

Sarge Kennedy

"We have been wanting to try the Roseburg wine region for some time now, and finally got a chance to stop in while on the way to the coast. This winery has a stunning facility with gorgeous views! The staff was friendly, though they struggled with a couple of my questions about their wines.

The wines themselves are ok for the most part, with the Tempernillo being their best by far. The wine making philosophy seems centered on re-creating the climate of Spain wine growing regions, which is an interesting approach. I would love to try thier wines 10 years down the road when they have had a chance to refine their winemaking. Definitely worth a visit!"

Rebecca Freeman

"My boyfriend and I randomly stumbled across this winery on our way back to our hotel from the Wildlife Safari. We have very limited experience with wine tastings, and we showed up admittedly a bit closer to their closing time than I would have normally liked, but we were looking for a new experience. We unfortunately did not catch our server's name, but he was excellent. He made us feel welcome despite arriving closer to their closing time. His timing was impeccable, and our wine and food were delicious. He said he had been working there for about 5 years, and his knowledge for their wines was very apparent. If we ever visit the area again, we will definitely be back and will arrive earlier! 😅"
