Reviews Summary

Rush Pond Trail is praised for its excellent network of smooth, fun single-track mountain bike trails, featuring banked turns and pump track elements. The main gravel trail is also well-regarded for being family-friendly, well-maintained, and accessible. Some visitors note that trail maps can be incomplete and that dry conditions can make the single-track trails sandy.

"July, 2025: The main trail is a wide gravel trail running roughly north south, starting at the parking lot at Gurney Lane and running 2.4 miles to Fox Farm Road (Just north of Aviation Road.) There is another parking area off of West Mountain Road, south of the Gurney Lane lot. The trail is mostly flat, but has maybe 3 fairly steep, but short hills. It is heavily shaded, with no real views of the pond, unless you leave the main trail and walk to the pond's edge. Eventually you will reach a wooden bridge with some nice views. This is a very family friendly area. You will find all ages enjoying the trails. Plenty of bikes and dogs.

The real fun are the marvelous single track trails, many of which run roughly north south. Most are very smooth, with few rocks or roots. If you are new to single track riding, this is the place! Mountain bikes are the best choice, but gravel bikes are entirely suitable. Even a road bike with fat enough tires would be adequate. I was there a few days after some rain, so the trails were nearly perfect: packed down and smooth, and no mud or puddles. A few days of sunshine later I went back and was met with drier, sandy conditions that caused some tire slip on my 38 mm tires. There are many, many, banked S-turns and well as series of "bumps" (think pump track) that are thrilling and so much fun. I recommend Foxy at the south end of the park. It's a short but thrilling roller coaster of a trail. Also notable is Lucky 13, a continuous series of banked S-turns. It was like a water slide, except on a bike.

There are maps at many of the intersections but they somehow do not list all the trails nor do they have the “you are here” spot marked.I suggest using an app like All Trails to familiarize yourself with all the trails."

"Nice wide trail that is very easy to follow. Well marked and well maintained. Trail is 2.6 miles one way and 5.2 miles total. Easy to moderate terrain.
Trail goes along Rush Pond, then crosses over Rush Pond and ends in a suburban neighborhood. The trail offers many chances to see local wildlife. The trail is used by many for walking, running, and bicycling. There are many mountain bike trails that come off the main trail.
Easy parking next to the Northway. Room for about 10-15 cars. Cell reception is very good on the whole trail."

Ryan Mazierski

"Nice trail running from the End of West Mountain road, past Rush Pond to Farr Lane. Path is wide and well maintained, but does have hills. 2.6 miles each way. (5.2 round trip.)

Has a couple Adirondack style bridges to cross which were cool. Good place to get out and go for a walk or to take a mountain bike."
