What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Lake Fausse Pointe State Park for its stunning natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and the unique experience of seeing alligators up close. The waterfront cabins and peaceful atmosphere are major draws, offering a true escape from city life. However, be prepared for intense mosquito activity and very limited cell service, and plan grocery trips in advance due to the remote location.
"We stayed one night on our way to Florida. Our full hook up waterfront campsite included a dock that extended over the river.
Several alligators cruised by our dock in the evening. It felt like a true Louisiana bayou adventure. A rare chance to observe wildlife up close in its natural habitat. Be careful with dogs in this area. The gators showed zero fear of humans.
The park itself is well maintained, with clean restrooms and friendly staff. The small trail system is easy to navigate and offers a great way to explore the surrounding wetlands on foot but wear a lot of bug spray.
This is a great park and I wish we had planned for it to be more than an overnight. We will definitely be back."

"The park was beautiful and completely surrounded by nature. The closest grocery store is about 25-30 minutes away. Due to the time of year, we did deal with a ton of mosquitoes. The staff was friendly and helpful and drove through the campground regularly to survey the area. It was an extremely relaxing trip (other than the mid-day mosquito attacks!)"

"The cabin and scenery were beautiful. The alligators have been hand fed by tourists and will swim up to you.
Our cabin was in disrepair. Two drawers and one cabinet door was broken, the lamp in the bunk room had a short in the wiring, and there was minimal kitchenware."
