Anyone been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium?
Hey everyone! I’m currently planning a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. However, I wanted to know if it’s worth the $50 admission. What’s it like? Is the aquarium itself big inside? :-) Thanks.

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the zoo's clean grounds, well-cared-for animals, and exceptionally kind staff. The calm, accessible environment is a major draw for families, especially those with special needs. However, some guests have expressed discomfort over reported instances of the director mistreating staff, creating a mixed perception of the zoo's leadership.
"Our family truly loves the Monterey Zoo. The animals are well cared for, the grounds are clean, and the staff is genuinely exceptional. Our kids adore this place, which is why we’ve continued visiting. But on at least two separate visits, we overheard the director loudly mistreating his staff—belittling them in front of guests with a tone and attitude that were completely uncalled for. It was uncomfortable, disappointing, and hard to ignore.
We attended the recent rhino event hoping for a positive experience, only to hear him openly brag about how poorly he treats his own team—saying half of them won’t even speak to him right now because he’s such a “perfectionist” and claims “OCD.” Sir, that’s not perfectionism; that’s dictatorship disguised as leadership. A director who talks about wanting to be “someone’s hero every day” should start with the people keeping his zoo running. Human decency shouldn’t have to be taught, but at this point he’d clearly benefit from some leadership and compassion training. The zoo itself is incredible—but its director might need to learn how to value the very staff who make it that way. We won’t be renewing our membership."
