Reviews Summary
The Gateway offers a mix of attractions, including family-friendly museums and entertainment venues, with potential for vibrant events. However, some visitors note a decline in its overall vibrancy and a struggle with maintenance issues like restroom cleanliness and available seating during festivals.
"What's with the Gateway? I thought a new owner bought it and was going to bring it back to life? I worked at Gateway long ago when it was bustling and I miss those days. It's sad to see empty stores and spaces. Hallpass is awesome but much more is needed to put this place back on the map. Also it was a bummer that none of the fire places were lit. Many people wanted to sit by them, being that it was freezing out. The bathrooms are a whole other story... if you can find them, beware that they are dirty and aren't stocked with the necessities. It smelled like urine so bad in the women's bathroom I thought I was going to throw up. There was also a blanket thrown in the garbage of the bathroom by a homeless woman sleeping in there. I'm not a fan of city creek, so I hope Gateway can make a comeback!"

"The Gateway in Salt Lake City used to be a prime destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. I remember when it was the go-to spot, bustling with energy and offering a diverse range of stores and activities. Unfortunately, in recent years, it feels like the Gateway has been on a steady decline. With the emergence of newer shopping areas in Salt Lake City, it seems to have lost its former charm and appeal.
Walking through the Gateway now, it’s hard to ignore the empty storefronts and the overall lack of vibrancy that once characterized the place. There have been numerous promises of revitalization, and while some small efforts have been made, nothing substantial seems to happen. The plans for redevelopment and bringing in new attractions have yet to materialize in a meaningful way, leaving the Gateway feeling like a shadow of its former self.
It’s a shame because the Gateway has so much potential with its central location and ample space. It could once again become a thriving hub if more concrete steps were taken towards its redevelopment. Until then, it remains a nostalgic reminder of what it used to be, overshadowed by the newer, more dynamic shopping spots around the city."

"I like the Gateway for the Children’s Museum, Clark Planetarium, Wiseguys, and its location next to the Delta Center. The festivals held here are also nice. Bathrooms are hard to find, so watch out! It still hasn’t fully recovered since City Creek came in, so hoping in the future more businesses can open here."
