What are the best trails?
I recently moved here and am wanting to know what the best nature trails are to walk/hike on. I prefer unpaved trails and to be surrounded by nature. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Running routes
Runners of San Angelo, where do you go for distance runs where it is still safe? I'm new to the city and I'm used to side walks and bike paths everywhere. Are there any good paths for exercising where a stray dog won't chase me or force me to run on the roads?
Shady Spots for Fishing
Find plenty of shade along the river for a comfortable fishing session. :fishing_pole:
Dog-Friendly Park

Creek27 Microhomes?
Moving to San Angelo soon and most likely going with a Creek27 microhome. Has anyone on here lived/currently living at Creek27? Anything you can tell me about this place good or bad before I make a decision to sign? Also, any recommendations for nature areas, hiking,β¦

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find Middle Concho Park to be a nice, well-maintained recreation site with plenty of shade and river access. It's praised for its natural beauty, birdwatching opportunities, and diverse activities like disc golf and camping. Some reviews mention the water being muddy, and one visitor had a negative experience with local law enforcement outside the park.
"Not a bad little spot surrounded by water. Plenty of birds and dragon flies. There was a pay booth at the front but unattended when I went. Had a little play ground and lots of open space with picnic tables and trash cans. Mostly mesquite trees. Cattails are thock along the water edge and there's some water lillies also. Water is pretty muddy. Pretty quiet when I went on a Friday morning. There's a boat ramp here also."

"As a professional event host, I was in town to host the 2025 Wake The Dessert Wakeboard competition at Middle Concho Park. The park was beautiful and the lake perfect for this great family event. But I had forgotten this was a military town. As a decorated retired military veteran with a prestigious award / metal visible on my Texas plates, I was immediately pulled over and hassled by San Angelo Police just outside the park entrance on my way out. I've experienced this in other military towns where police feel it necessary to seek out and victimize military and veterans. This is a despicable trend that is reprehensible at best. Our military are the largest supporters of the town's economy and should not have to deal with begrudged police officers. Google calls San Angelo a "Military-Friendly Community". This veteran begs to differ. Do I dislike police officers? I do not... I have a "Back the Blue" logo on the back of my own business cards. But San Angelo Police made it a point of ruining my first ever visit to San Angelo on the afternoon of July 21st, creating animosities where there should be none. The park was very nice, but law enforcement was not."
