What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Texas Transportation Museum for its relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere and the genuine warmth of its volunteers. It's a hit with families, offering engaging train rides and model displays. While some exhibits might show their age, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning return visits.
"This was a great treat. If you want a low pace attraction for the little ones to enjoy with no line... this is great. They have a playground and an actual short train ride. The staff is all volunteers so please be kind and pick their brains. Some have been supporting the facility for a decade and can provide a lot of history about the museum and San Antonio if you sit down and listen. Worth stopping by. FYI if you are into trains collectibles, some of the volunteers can provide some info about upcoming events."

"My family had such a fun time at the Texas Transportation Museum. I loved the simplicity of the museum and how it was not crowded. There were several sweet older guys that interacted with my two kiddos. One gentleman took the time to explain some of the different mechanisms on the train to my son. It seemed like the volunteers/workers genuinely enjoyed being there. We will definitely be going back to visit again."

"What a great place for kids!! The volunteers were super kind and very friendly. They were also very knowledgeable and were willing to slow down and speak with my kids. One even let them control one of the train setups. Can definitely say my kids were hooked and wanted to leave and get our own train set. The detail of some of these models were so neat and a great was to teach. We got to ride a train twice, view their garden trains, their indoor model trains, see the old vehicles and busses. My kids wished they could have gotten on the busses but they were a bit worn out. Very neat and we plan to go back as the kids get a little older as well."
