The Houston Maritime Center & Museum just reopened in East River and is definitely worth a visit! It’s on the smaller side, but really well done—plan about an hour. It’s a cool way to learn about the maritime world and Houston’s role in it. Kids can enjoy the play area and scavenger hunt, and the museum also hosts family-friendly events throughout the year. Definitely one to add to your list of Ho...

"We recently visited with our Youth Group and Mr. Rene Fraire made it a very interesting and enjoyable experience. He was very quick to respond in getting our tour set up and shared a wealth of information on the beautiful Chapel, Museum, Old Jail, and Placita and the history of the area, many episodes of which would make a great Western movie! We had a great time and are appreciative of his work in making the past come alive. Thank you very much!"

Sandra Allen

"Stopped in by chance and wound up spending quite a bit of time here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. An interesting current exhibit was in the front part, and a larger collection in the back part on the history of the area. Everything was well presented and care has been given to keep it in good shape. Definitely worth visiting."
