What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Punch Line San Francisco is praised for its legacy and the quality of comedians who perform there, offering a chance to see both rising stars and established acts. However, some patrons have expressed dissatisfaction with the high drink prices, the enforcement of the two-drink minimum, and occasional issues with service, which can detract from the overall experience despite the great performances.
"San Francisco has a gem of a comedy venue here with so much history.
It's super cool when you see "lesser known" comics here and as they tour around they become big and when they come back to the Bay Area they sell out venues like Cobbs, The Masonic, Palace of Fine Arts, and even Chase Center.
Venue is owned by Ticketmaster / Live Nation, so ticketing is pretty straight forward.
Standard 2 drink minimum (non alcoholic drinks count!)
Menu includes pizza flatbread, nachos, pretzel etc.
Staff has always been friendly and is always on top of things.
Some comedians are not for everyone so research before you buy the tickets.
You never know who will make a surprise appearance when you're in town. Have gotten to see comedians like Dave Chappelle and Gabriel Iglesias last minute, but others like Ali Wong and Taylor Tomlinson have done surprise last minute shows as well."

"The comedians are 5-star, truly a great show. Venue/management deserves 1-star. I understand needing to charge a minimum per customer, but the way the go about the 2-drink minimum is ridiculous. Food doesn't count and the minimum draft beer size is 24oz for $19. It's a Tuesday, I don't need 48oz of beer."

"Great Comedy Undone by Pushy Waitress, Overcharging, and Disrespectful Service.😣
I came here with a friend to enjoy a night of comedy (Fumi Abe was headliner), and while we genuinely enjoyed the comedians, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by poor customer service.
Our waitress made us feel uncomfortable throughout the show by repeatedly returning to our table to push us to order drinks. We were not initially aware of the two-drink minimum, but once we saw it on the menu, we complied and ordered two canned waters. Without our consent, she decided to bring us four total and charged us for them.
We never agreed to this and felt pressured the entire time. Her overly persistent and condescending attitude left a bad taste in what should have been a fun night out.
The performers were great, but the service experience made us feel unwelcome and taken advantage of — which is why I’m giving this place 1"
