What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise The Huntington for its breathtaking gardens, diverse art collections, and the sheer beauty of its rare book library. Many highlight the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to spend an entire day immersed in nature and culture. Some find the entrance fee a bit high, and during peak times, it can get crowded, but the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.
"It never gets boring. No matter which time of the year, the garden has a priceless beauty. I personally like the wilder areas more than the highly architectural ones. Alltogether, this is always a nice showcase to take out-of-town guests, who typically as a little plus indulge in the store at the end of the day.
PREVIOUS REVIEW 2
Such a beautiful place, particularly now in the spring when everything starts to blossom. Since my last visit (before Covid), several sections have been expanded, eg the Chinese Garden, and others are under construction. The Huntington remains a super fav!
PREVIOUS REVIEW 1
What do the Huntington Library, the beach, and High Sierra (e.g. Mammoth) have in common? The incredible display of nature that make each one of them an irreplaceable ingredient for L.A. quality of life. No matter how full it is, there is always the inevitable peace to rebalance from the day-to-day stress. The richness of conjoined plants with their wilderness, beauty, danger, independence, and durability that spans decades and centuries but observes subtle human-made changes puts many things into perspective. And its beauty is simply relaxing…
P.S. … never regretted the membership …

"I don’t have enough wonderful things to say about Huntington. It is filled with beautiful gardens that feature life from both the east and west, and it feels like you step into a dream the second you enter the grounds. I cannot attest to the cultural or historical accuracy of the gardens, but their visual appeal, regardless, is worth the visit. It is an excellent location for a date, and while I think most kids will enjoy it, I think it is more pleasant for adults."

"Absolutely brilliant visit today. The weather was perfect — warm but not too sunny — and there is plenty of shade throughout the gardens, which makes wandering the trails comfortable and relaxing.
Accessibility was great as well. The pathways are wheelchair-friendly, and it’s easy to navigate between most of the major garden areas without feeling limited.
One important note: buy tickets ahead of time. They can sell out for the day, especially on weekends or during special events, so planning ahead will save you the trouble.
If it’s your first time, the must-see highlights are:
• The Chinese Garden – peaceful water views, beautiful architecture
• The Japanese Garden – serene paths, koi ponds, and iconic landscaping
• The Rose Garden – colorful, fragrant, and perfect for photos
It’s the kind of place you can spend hours exploring without even realizing it. A stunning and well-maintained escape in the middle of the city — highly recommend for locals and visitors alike."
