Reviews Summary
St. John's Cemetery is appreciated for its peaceful, local setting and surprising views of the San Francisco skyline. While some find the grounds' upkeep could be improved, its historic nature and serene atmosphere make it a memorable place for remembrance and reflection.
"My dad and I got our plots together about 25 years ago and arranged our cremation together at Neptune at the same time. My mom gave no directions on what she wanted so my sister and I decided to bury her there also, so mom is across a little road from us. My dad and I liked that it was local, private, and not in the fog like so many others – I know it shouldn’t really matter at that time but it did to us now. This historic graveyard is nestled amongst houses in a neighborhood setting hosting Mausoleum’s and graves containing historic local names such as Crocker and Parrott’s. Kathy who works there is great. You can find sites for casket grave burial as well as cremation interment burials. Parents of people I grew up with are there as well as my childhood next-door neighbor. I feel like the ground “greenery” around the gravestones and stuff could be kept nicer to make it a little prettier but the location is perfect. From the north side of the graveyard you can see if view of downtown San Francisco skyline. Small and quaint as a graveyard should be. Apparently they have or had mass there at least once a year and I took an actual tour that was offered to the public. There used to be a nondenominational side and the area where my dad and I are used to be reserved for Jesuit priest but that changed over time. A small hidden gem in a San Mateo Neighborhood"
