Best quirky sightseeing? Best off season attractions? Staying mid-cape end of March.

I like local history, weird museums, etc. Live local to the Boston area, not sure what might be open, just looking for interesting things to find.

Reviews Summary

Visitors describe the Benjamin Nye Homestead Museum as a 'hidden gem' offering an educational, fun, and relaxing experience. The preserved 1678 homestead and 1858 grist mill provide a comprehensive look at early Cape Cod life. While some noted dim lighting and accessibility challenges in the historic buildings, the natural beauty of the grounds and the stocked pond for fishing were highlighted as unique positives.

"Nye Museum consisted of three buildings: a homestead originally constructed in 1678, a grange hall that now acts as the visitor center, and a grist mill built in 1858.
Nye Museum was an educational, fun, and relaxing experience. It had everything I desire in a small house museum and more. Like most historic houses, the buildings were not accessible to those using a wheelchair, and stairs may be steep for those with limited mobility. Lighting was dim in some parts of the house and the grange, especially since I visited on a day that turned rainy. The museum website is well-designed and fairly easy, providing substantial information about the property but no virtual tour at this time.
The museum recently closed for the season but will open again in mid June. Tickets are $10 for adults and $0 for children members, active duty military, and NEMA members. If you want a comprehensive overview of life on Cape Cod before the present day, I highly encourage you to visit Nye Museum."

"It was an interesting visit. Beautiful."

T. L. Nye

"Beautiful. But I am extremely prejudiced, as the home belonged to my relatives, felt like home. Reminded me of Tom Bombadill's little piece of land. Not all of it mind you, but the pond, and stream and swans and freshness of it all, despite the settled long ago, feels delightfully nice. Too bad they don't have yours at Christmas. It would be picturesque."
