What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Haskell Canyon Open Space for its challenging hikes and rewarding panoramic views, especially from the Copper Hill entrance. The natural beauty, including spring wildflowers, is a significant draw. However, some find the initial ascents too steep, and occasional trail debris like animal droppings are noted.
"2024 Update. The more gentle ascent is to the left from the Copper Hill parking entrance. Below is the immediate ascent to the right.
Steep uphill climb from the parking spot on Copper Hill. Too steep for me and the dogs. I could do it on my own but the drop-off is severe and I wasn't comfortable with my girls on the narrow path up. You'll need to be in some sort of shape to make it all the way up. Once you get to the top it evens out a bit. Plenty of parking and the paths are well defined. Comparatively, say the trails just down the street at the Haskell Canyon Trailhead, this is an advanced trail system so be prepared. Also, if you are not comfortable at height then you may want to skip this one. If you make it up you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of Santa Clarita and at least two of the three mountain ranges that surround it. Another great calorie burner in the SCV trail system."
