"This is a hidden gem. If you are looking for a quiet, uncrowded experience on the beautiful white sand beaches of Destin, check out this park. Leave $3 in an envelope at the entrance, park your car and follow the boardwalk through the beautiful landscape to the beach. Take a wagon with your gear for the day and relax. There are clean restrooms by the parking lot as well as a beach shower and a picnic gazebo. Beautiful!!"

"Small entrance fee to park at the state park. Very long walk down the boardwalk to the public beach.
The parking lot fills up quickly and they will close the gate once the lot is full.
Not ideal in my opinion for a beach day because of the long walk and having to carry all your stuff from the parking lot. However the beach is spectacular once you get out to it."

"Deer Lake is a beautiful state park! We love going & staying awhile to enjoy the peace & quiet. It’s amazing to witness so much preserved & protected dune acreage. The long walkway from the parking lot to the beachfront is well-maintained. This area of 30A feels more wild and desolate than other beach fronts, like a reprieve. I definitely recommend going to enjoy it yourself!"
