Day Hikes From the Santa Ynez Valley
Hi All, I'm visiting family in the Santa Ynez Valley in about two weeks and am looking for a day hike recommendation. I've done the Lost Valley in the San Rafael Wilderness before and loved it, but would like something new. Anything within 90 minutes or so of Santa…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Figueroa Mountain Recreation Area for its spacious, private campsites nestled among beautiful oak trees and the scenic drive up. However, the complete lack of running water is a significant drawback for many, and the presence of biting flies during warmer months can be a nuisance. The steep access road also requires careful navigation.
"This campground was so extremely huge! Every where was nicely cleaned up, the bathrooms were pretty clean as good as they can be for being outside!"
Cassy Archibeque
"update July 2025 camp ground closed due to last years fire.
Cool camp ground in the Oaks, several trails nearby for hiking and Biking. Mainly a tent camp ground although small trailer will fit in some sites and the road to get there is steep!"
Mike Sluyter
"Super friendly campground host, great pit toilets, our first time camping with no tap water, not a problem. The campground was nicely busy but not overcrowded on weekend. It was eerily quiet in weekdays, spooked us a little the first night. High elevation, so the weather varies depending on whether you're in the cloud or not. Great individual sites. 30 minutes drive to nearest town."
