What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Tang Teaching Museum for its free admission, frequently changing and thought-provoking contemporary art exhibitions, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. While some find the space could accommodate more art, the overall experience is highly valued for its educational mission and engaging displays.
"Many great exhibits, changes frequently, friendly staff and I love that it is free. I visit several times a year and spend about 2 hours there each time. No matter when I go, I'm interested in art on display. I wish that there wasn't so much empty space inside, I feel like there could be more art to enjoy in this wonderful place."

"The Tang Teaching Museum & Art Gallery is located on the Skidmore College campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. It has two large gallery rings and two smaller gallery rings. The exhibit spaces are easy to walk around. The museum does have a permanent collection, but often displays traveling or touring art exhibitions. Currently, the works of Alexis Rockman and Mark Dion are on display. The works presented by these artists are interesting, understandable, and enjoyable. Best of all, the museum is free! It takes about an hour or two to see the entire museum. Call ahead for their hours or check their website. Definitely, a nice small art museum for all to see."

"This is one of those places that make you grateful for rainy days because this was an alternative activity we came upon when our hiking plans got washed out. I have a deep appreciation for the teaching mission of this museum, but an even deeper appreciation for the fact that they don't fall into the trap that so many contemporary art museums do of showcasing work that feels lazy or contemptuous of its audience. For the most part, the pieces on exhibit were thoughtful and thought-provoking, works of careful artistry and compelling, though not conventional, beauty."
