Reviews Summary
Reviews for Roan and Black Gallery are overwhelmingly negative, primarily focusing on the owner's aggressive and confrontational behavior towards visitors over minor issues like parking and property boundaries. While the gallery displays art, the negative customer service experience overshadows the artistic offerings for many.
"I had an unfortunate encounter with the business owner today that left me feeling quite unsettled. While walking to the restaurant we walked across the grass. The owner came out telling us not to walk on his grass. We immediately apologized and moved away, but rather than accepting our apology, they continued to berate us loudly and aggressively. Screaming at us about how dare we look at him like he’s the asshole.
I understand that property boundaries matter and people have a right to protect their space. A simple “Hey, could you please stay off the grass?” would have been completely reasonable and effective. Instead, the situation escalated far beyond what was necessary for such a minor, unintentional mistake about grass.
Life is challenging enough without approaching every small conflict with such intensity. I genuinely hope this business owner finds whatever support, peace, or healing they need to handle future disagreements with more kindness and respect. We all have difficult days, but treating people with basic decency - especially when they apologize and move on - creates a much better environment for everyone."

"I paused in front of this establishment for no more than one minute to retrieve my handicapped mother from the shared parking lot. The owner came and banged on my window, demanding that I move. I wasn’t even in one of his “assigned” spaces. A simple request for me to move would have been a more professional and mature action. It’s a real shame that this establishment casts a dark and unwelcoming shadow on my brother’s beloved community. This place and its owner do not represent Saugatuck, and I’d advise anyone to stay far, far away!"

"While waiting for a table at the restaurant next door, the owner of this place screamed repeatedly at someone who mistakenly parked in one of his spaces even after they were moving the car. In the span of 15 min he did this to three different people. Maybe better signage or medication? He’s a mess."
