What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Scusset Beach Jetty is praised for its calm waters, spacious layout, and opportunities for wildlife viewing, particularly seals. Visitors appreciate the scenic beauty and the fishing jetty. However, the beach can get crowded in season, and the presence of bugs and occasional litter are noted drawbacks.
"A nice place for a morning walk. Especially after season. A beautiful estuary environment exists a short distance south. Not a swimming beach, cold water, rocky shore and very crowded in season, but bliss when everyone goes home!"
Bob Burbic
"When, I arrived they were doing the walk for Alzheimer's but the event was well organized and didn't effect my arrival at the beach.
There was more than plenty of parking for beach goers, and the beach is long so everyone wasn't stuck together and could spread out.
I walked the long rocky path (very dangerous)
Over to the "light house" and when I go to just over the end of the rocky path..
I saw my first real seal sunbathing!
Such a cool experience!
Especially being right on the edge of Cape Cod Canal. I highly recommend visiting this place or cape cod in general! Definitely a 5 start experience!"
Yasmine Merced (Yaz)
"Beautiful beach! My favorite because the water is always calm and clear, the bugs are ridiculous so bring bug spray. I even saw a tick on my towel. I was sitting closer up to the dunes so maybe that’s why. Great for kids and spacious. Parking is $14.00 and plenty. Concession stand and change room. Again….. the bugs!! lol! Flies bit me too."

Navigating Scusset Beach: Parking & Access
Beyond the main beach, the 1.5-mile stretch along the Cape Cod Canal provides ample space for visitors to spread out. This length means that if the initial areas seem crowded, walking further down the beach often leads to more secluded spots. The jetty itself is a key feature, offering a unique perspective of the canal and a popular spot for fishing. However, the rocky path leading to and along the jetty requires caution due to its potentially dangerous terrain.
Wildlife Encounters & Environmental Notes
However, visitors should be prepared for the presence of insects. Bug spray is highly recommended, as flies and ticks can be bothersome, particularly when sitting closer to the dunes. Additionally, like many coastal areas, some visitors have noted the presence of garbage washed ashore with seaweed, a common environmental concern. Despite this, the overall experience is often described as positive, with many appreciating the natural beauty and the chance to connect with local wildlife.
