What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the incredible 360-degree views from Sentinel Dome, calling it one of the best hikes in Yosemite. The relatively short distance is appealing, though the incline and slick rock scramble to the summit are noted as more strenuous than expected. Many recommend it for sunrise or sunset, but advise caution regarding wildlife and the need for proper footwear.
"Nice short yet moderate hike (don't let the distance fool you into thinking its easy because it definitely is not if you're not an avid hiker) with amazing views of half dome and el capitan! I got to the top in about 15 minutes, but it does involve some scrambling up slick rock, so be sure to have the right kind of footwear and take water!"

"This was one of the best hikes we have done in Yosemite. It offers great views of the Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, etc. It is an easy to moderate hike for the first mile or so, then climbing the dome becomes more difficult. Take you time and it isn't that bad, saw some people that were out of breath due to altitude and slope but didn't see any turn back. Highly recommend this hike! Pack a lunch and eat and enjoy the views."

"This is a pretty strenuous hike, especially when you get to the base of the dome. Beautiful 360° views from the top. There was a lot of smoke when we went."
