What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the impressive engineering of Shasta Dam and the stunning panoramic views of Lake Shasta. The free guided tours are a highlight, offering fascinating insights into the dam's history and operation, though securing tickets requires advance planning. Some find security strict, and extreme heat can lead to tour cancellations.
"One of the most unique dams I have seen so far, the water falls with such force the sound is incredible, especially when they let you go near the rushing water. I feel like going here on any day in the summer is good because there is a crowd, but it’s manageable. What wasn’t the best thing is how you need to get a ticket an hour early before the tour starts, my family ended up not being able to go because we didn’t get a ticket on time for the tour. Please don’t do the same mistake and I feel like the tour will be worth seeing."

"Brie, our tour guide, was awesome!
She was knowledgeable, fun, and is very proud of the dam and everything about it.
Security was strict. You can basically have your car keys, a clear water bottle and your cell phone, nothing else, or you will get turned away.
This is a free tour with the optional donation box at the visitor center.
Also, note that if it is like 110 degrees, they will cancel afternoon tours for the safety of the visitors and staff.
This is a fun tour. You get very close to the turbines and get some great pictures while learning a lot about this amazing structure!"
