What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bear Chase Golf Club offers a scenic experience with the Blue River and varied tee options, appealing to a range of golfers. However, potential visitors should be aware of inconsistent course conditions reported by some players, including issues with fairways and sand traps. Despite this, affordable twilight rates and pre-booking discounts make it an attractive option for budget-conscious players seeking a challenging round.
"Even with the new owners, costs are still ridiculous. Week day after 6pm is $25 for 9 holes. The course layout and condition is ridiculous. Twilight costs should be closer to $15. I will drive the extra 20 minutes to The Links to pay comparable prices for a course 5x better"

"I started playing golf while a teenager, and I must say this is a beautiful course that will both relax and challenge any level of player, with it's 127 rolling acres and 3 sets of tee's for various experience levels. The Blue River runs through many areas of the course, adding to the courses beauty.
Play from the back tees (black) spans 6,506 yards for a par of 72, a course rating of 70.7 and a slope of 123. The white tee's: yards 6121, rating 69.6, slope 121 and gold tee's: yards 5231, rating 70.4, slope 119, giving players of all ages and skills a fun fill time.
The golf course is open from April to October each year. It offers season passes for a variety of players from the daily player to the occasional player, as well as corporate passes, student passes, and more.
They offer early tee time pre-booking at a discount, which is usually booked about 1 week or so in advance, but you get a reduced rate of only about $15 for 18 holes including cart. And peak times on weekends still won't cost more than about $40 per player, including green fees, and cart. So this is an excellent and affordable course to enjoy the day and get some exercise.
They also have a banquet room that can accommodate up to 125 people, for any special event you may want to hold. Come out and play 9 or 18 holes with friends, family, or co-workers, and have a great time."

"The course is currently in terrible condition. All tee boxes are in the rough/fairways. There is not a lot of difference between rough and fairways on this course. Good luck on several holes finding enough grass to hit the ball off of. A few holes are closed due to poor conditions. The course layout is awful. I would not recommend this course at nearly any price until conditions significantly improve."

Navigating Course Conditions
It's crucial to manage expectations based on recent feedback. If pristine conditions are a top priority, it might be worth checking the latest reviews or calling the club directly before booking. The presence of the Blue River adds a scenic element, but this beauty can sometimes be overshadowed by maintenance concerns.
Despite these potential drawbacks, the course layout itself is designed to challenge golfers of all levels, with varying tee boxes and the natural landscape playing a role in the game.
Maximizing Value and Affordability
For those looking to play a full 18 holes without breaking the bank, early tee time pre-booking is a key strategy. This can reduce the cost to approximately $15 for green fees and a cart, though it's advisable to book about a week in advance. The course also offers season passes, including options for students and corporate groups, which could provide significant savings for frequent players.
While peak weekend times might cost around $40 per player, the availability of these discounted options makes Bear Chase a potentially affordable golf destination, especially when compared to other courses that might charge more for similar experiences.

This variety ensures that both seasoned players and those newer to the sport can find a suitable and enjoyable experience.
Reviewers note that the course aims to be both relaxing and challenging, suggesting a balanced design that leverages the natural terrain. However, some players have found the layout itself to be less than ideal, with difficulties in locating balls even when in the fairway, which can extend playing times.
