Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Uncle Nearest Distillery for its rich history, smooth whiskey, and welcoming atmosphere, with many highlighting the inspiring story of Nathan 'Nearest' Green and the passionate staff. However, some find the tours and on-site dining to be on the pricier side for the experience offered, and a few noted minor service hiccups.
"We had a great time touring the distillery and learning the history behind Nearest Green and how the distillery came to be. The facilities were very nicely kept and you can see how they plan to grow and add more production on site. However that’s the thing - this was more of a tourist attraction than it was focused on the distilling itself. It will be much better when they are able to show the process in person instead of just a nice walk through and tasting. I’ve been to over 20 distilleries in TN and this was the most expensive tour to date, with a lot left to be desired. I would’ve purchased a bottle if it were more accessible of a price point. I can just go to my local liquor store for a better price, which is odd. The taste overall was pretty good but not one of my personal favorites.
After the tour we had an overpriced old fashioned at the world’s longest bar and it was ok. Not the best I’ve had. Manager told us to sit in a specific section and then after we sat, someone else told us that section was closed. Then the original manager said she had told us to see the hostess in that section, not to sit down. It’s not a good look to lie to the customer. You’ll have a smoother process if you know what’s going on in your own bar.
Overall, lots of potential; but if you’re asking a premium price, it should run smoother and provide a premium experience executed in a premium way."

""Uncle Nearest Whiskey Distillery is truly a remarkable experience from start to finish. The rich history behind the brand sets the tone, but it's the warm hospitality and attention to detail that really stand out. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and welcoming — they make you feel like family.
The tour is beautifully curated, blending storytelling, history, and whiskey education in a way that’s both inspiring and fun. The grounds are stunning, and the tasting experience is top-notch — every pour was smooth, flavorful, and expertly crafted.
Uncle Nearest isn’t just about great whiskey (which it absolutely is); it’s about legacy, culture, and honoring the past while building a powerful future. I highly recommend this distillery to anyone looking for a meaningful, memorable, and delicious experience.
Five stars without hesitation!"

"We had an amazing time at Uncle Nearest Distillery! Our guide, Karen, truly made the experience unforgettable. She was incredibly warm, informal in the best way, and made us feel right at home from the moment we started the tour.
Karen shared so much fascinating information, not just about the distillery itself, but also the inspiring story behind Uncle Nearest and the legacy it represents. Her energy was infectious, and the tour was full of laughs, great stories, and genuine connection. It never felt rushed or overly rehearsed. Just real, engaging, and full of heart.
We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and left feeling like we had just spent time with an old friend. If you visit (and you should!), we hope you’re lucky enough to get Karen as your guide. She’s a gem!"
