Lol never thought Id get to take a shower in a mountain stream coming out of a 130 year old fire tube boiler, but I did it at the 730 Mine in Silver Plume. After climing 1300 feet elevation in the sun over 1.8 miles of switchbacks it was great! #silverplumecolorado #730minetrail #coloradolife #miningequipment

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the 7:30 Mine Trail's unique blend of history, challenging terrain, and stunning mountain views. While the lack of dedicated parking and steep sections are noted, the opportunity to explore old mining ruins and reach the Griffin Memorial makes it a highly recommended hike for those seeking an adventurous and educational experience. Reddit

"This trail was not at all what I expected! It starts near private property and there is no parking lot/area. We parked down in the town of Silver Plume and walked a block up a dirt road to the start of the trail. It is up incline most of the way up. You can hike to a monument to a guy whose last name is Griffin. There are some pretty scary spots way up high near the moment that had avalanche areas, soft shoulders and not the best footing. Overall a nice hike with many great views. You can see and hear the traffic on I-70 for the first half up the trail, then it gets quieter and not as intrusive. Definitely got my heart rate up a bit. If you get vertigo or have issues with fear of heights I would not recommend."

"If you’re into mining, geology, history, or just hiking, this trail is amazing! The pictures are from the first of many mines on the trail.

The trail is a bit steep in spots, but it’s fairly easy. I’m an old, crusty, disabled dude, and I made it to the first mine without too much trouble."

"Such a unique hike! The old mining artifacts along the way were so interesting. This hike was a workout, and there were a couple patches of loose rocks to go over. But overall short and sweet, great views, and interesting history. Also enjoyed stopping in at Bread Bar afterwards. It's best to park on Main St. and walk up Silver St. to the trailhead."
