What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Skylight Cave a unique and visually stunning natural wonder, particularly appreciating the illuminated skylights and the cool escape it offers on hot days. The geological formations are impressive, and the cave provides a refreshing break from the outdoor heat. However, the journey can be challenging due to rough forest roads, and clear signage is sometimes lacking, requiring careful navigation.
"Caves were very cool we got there around 9:30 and the skylights were neat. We followed maps and it got us to the parking area. Once at the parking area go down the trail past the log blocking cars from entering until you see the sign for the cave. The cave entrance is just behind the sign."

"Took an off road adventure with a group of friends in two rigs. Started from Sisters and took highway 242 all the way to Big Lake and Hoodoo, making Skylight Cave a mid way stop to check out the sights. The cave has a ladder at the entrance and spellunking wasn't that difficult. Not a long walk to the end of the cave. The change in temperature was much needed on a hot day. The lava tube is massive and wide open without really any tight spots for those that are not a fan of tight spaces like me. Pack out your trash ffs! Glad to have found this gem and I'm sure I will be back."

"Long windy off-road experience to find the small signage message board that is the indicator where the skylight caves are, and if no one is out there you might pass it. But once you find it and explore, it is very cool. Rocky footing and chilly. Bring a flashlight and good shoes. I heard a dog barking above the caves which created an eerie distant sound inside the caves, like a monster somewhere in the darkness. I went solo and am, quite honestly, still afraid of the dark, so my imagination runs wild. :)"
