What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often find the Sam Davis Home & Museum a surprisingly wonderful and informative experience, particularly praising the knowledgeable and passionate guides like Caleb. The historic home and grounds are well-kept and offer a glimpse into the past. However, some visitors have encountered issues with site accessibility and unclear operating hours, and the historical interpretation, while evolving, still reflects a 'lost cause' narrative.
"We stopped by the Sam Davis house to take a tour of the confederate hero who didn’t give up any names and was subsequently hung at the age of 21 and no one was out to direct us where to buy tickets nor did it look like the place was even open as no doors were open. There was no activity only care takers mowing the grass. We assumed the museum was closed so we drove through and looked at presumably his home and then left very quickly."

"This was a surprisingly wonderful experience. Caleb is the young gentleman who was our tour guide and his historical knowledge was amazing. I know it's not a typical famous landmark, but it is definitely worth the visit. Ask for Caleb as your tour guide.🙂"

"My friend and I had the most incredible day at the Sam Davis museum! I have to say that Caleb made our amazing experience possible. He was welcoming, informative and so passionate about history and the history of the house. He knew so much and guided us through it being respectful and kind. Caleb was fun and so intelligent for an 18 year old, his parents who are both historians must be so proud of him! Please know if you visit that seldom people do, so if there is no one at the front desk and the doors are locked, a tour will be taking place, it’ll be worth the wait I promise!"
